The organization is delivering large-scale construction projects and is seeking an experienced planning professional to support project delivery through advanced planning, monitoring, and control practices. This role is critical in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with contractual requirements.
About the OpportunityThe company is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to develop and manage detailed project schedules, monitor progress, analyze delays, and support claims and recovery planning. The role requires strong technical planning expertise, experience on major construction projects, and close coordination with project and site teams.
Role SummaryThe Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing comprehensive programs of work using advanced planning tools, monitoring and reporting project progress, managing earned value and cash flow, and coordinating interfaces across project stakeholders. The role plays a key part in schedule control, delay analysis, and extension of time submissions.
Key Responsibilities• Develop detailed programs of work using industry-standard planning software to meet contractual requirements• Prepare resource-loaded schedules and monitor site progress throughout the construction lifecycle• Update project schedules regularly and issue look-ahead schedules• Review subcontractor baseline schedules in line with scheduling manuals and project control standards• Prepare and submit KPIs, progress reports, and monthly planning reports to clients and management• Analyze project delays and assess potential claims, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies• Identify critical activities and areas of concern and coordinate with the project management team• Develop recovery schedules in coordination with the Project Manager and submit for client approval• Prepare and submit Extension of Time claims in accordance with contract requirements
Required Experience and Skills• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction projects within the UAE or GCC• Proven experience working on large-scale projects with reputable organizations• Strong expertise in construction planning and scheduling using advanced planning software such as Primavera P6 or equivalent• Experience in resource loading, progress tracking, earned value management, and cash flow analysis• Solid understanding of delay analysis techniques and claims preparation• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, interfaces, and project controls• Ability to manage and coordinate subcontractor schedules and baseline programs• Experience preparing client-facing reports, KPIs, and dashboards• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and methodical working style• Excellent coordination and communication skills to work effectively with project managers, site engineers, and stakeholders
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is considered an advantage.
