Role Summary Our client is looking for a Senior Technical Architect to provide architectural authority across major data platform and analytics programmes.
The role will involve setting technical direction, governing secure and scalable platform design, and guiding multiple delivery teams across environments including Palantir Foundry, AWS and, where applicable, Databricks.
You will work closely with NHS stakeholders, product leadership, security and governance teams, and multidisciplinary delivery teams to ensure architectural coherence, reusable patterns and successful service outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the target architecture and roadmap for one or more programme domainsEstablish and govern architecture standards, reference patterns and technical decision forumsDefine and assure non-functional requirements including security, resilience, availability, performance, cost efficiency and operabilityLead architectural risk management and resolve cross-team dependenciesLead end-to-end architecture across Palantir Foundry, including data integration, pipelines, transformations, ontology modelling, governance and operational applicationsOwn and evolve enterprise ontology / semantic layer design across clinical and operational domainsDesign scalable, modular and governed pipeline patterns for federated data environmentsDefine platform governance controls including lineage, auditability and approval flowsArchitect secure AWS cloud deployments including storage, encryption, monitoring and resilient patternsDefine Databricks integration patterns and operational guardrails where applicableDrive DevSecOps-aligned architecture practices across platform and service componentsProvide architectural leadership across services, APIs and front-end components, including .NET services and React front ends where requiredGuide teams on integration patterns including APIs and event-driven approachesWork with clinicians, analysts, data engineers, DevOps teams and senior leadership to support platform adoptionTranslate complex architecture into clear, actionable direction for technical and non-technical stakeholdersMentor technical leads and engineers across blended NHS England and supplier environments
Essential Skills & ExperienceSignificant experience in technical architecture or solution architecture rolesExperience leading complex, multi-team delivery in regulated environmentsAbility to operate at senior architecture level, influencing senior stakeholders and governing architecture across teamsDeep experience architecting data platforms and data engineering ecosystemsStrong knowledge of data governance, modelling, integration and operationalisationHands-on architectural knowledge of Palantir FoundryExperience with Foundry pipelines, transforms, ontology / semantic modelling and governanceStrong AWS cloud architecture experience, including security, encryption, monitoring and resiliencyExperience designing for federated data environments and complex integration landscapesStrong engineering background, including PythonArchitecture-level understanding of .NET services and modern front-end technologies such as ReactExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable SkillsDatabricks platform architecture experienceExperience with lakehouse patterns, workspace governance and enterprise data platform integrationsExperience delivering within healthcare or public sector environmentsFamiliarity with assurance-heavy governance and compliance expectationsKnowledge of healthcare interoperability approaches and datasetsArchitecture certifications such as TOGAF, BCS EA or AWS Solutions Architect
